Honest Faith: Bringing Your Doubts to God

DAY 3 OF 5

How does God respond when we doubt? With mercy. Consider Thomas after the resurrection. He needed to see and touch Jesus’ wounds before he could believe. And Peter, sinking in the water, called out to Jesus. In both cases, Jesus didn’t scold them for their doubts—he came close, reached out, and showed them mercy.

God isn’t annoyed by our questions. He draws near, gives space to wrestle, and meets us with compassion. And as we experience that mercy, he calls us to extend it to others. Faith is not about perfection; it’s about relationship, honesty, and grace.

When doubt comes, it’s not a sign that you’ve failed. It’s an opportunity to experience God’s patience, mercy, and love in a deeper way.

How can you show grace to yourself and others when faith feels shaky? How might God be using your doubts to grow compassion in you?

Pray: God, thank you for meeting me with mercy when I doubt. Teach me to extend that same grace to others and to myself, trusting that you are patient and kind even when faith feels uncertain.

About this Plan

Honest Faith: Bringing Your Doubts to God

Doubt is often seen as something negative, but the Bible shows us that doubt is a natural part of faith. Some of the strongest followers of Jesus wrestled with uncertainty, and rather than rejecting them, God met them with grace and truth. Explore how Scripture acknowledges doubt, how God responds to it, and how we can continue to trust him even when we don’t have all the answers.
