Daniel Fast - Awakening to His RealityNäide

The Love Language of Obedience
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” — John 14:15 (ESV)
Heywood, a young Bible teacher in a boys’ camp, once said: “God does not speak English or Russian. He speaks only Obedience!”
This means obedience is the language through which we declare our love and allegiance to God, our King.
As beloved children of God, everything we do—attending services, organizing programs, leading missions—though good and important, becomes meaningless if we walk in disobedience.
Jesus describes two kinds of lives:
- The wise person hears God’s Word and obeys it.
- The foolish person hears God’s Word but does not obey.
He compares obedience to building a house on a rock, and disobedience to building on sand (Matthew 7:24–27). A life without obedience is a disaster waiting to happen. But a life built on obedience stands firm in every storm.
This truth is the same in the kingdom of God and in the kingdom of darkness. Satan tempts us toward fear, rebellion, and compromise.
He understands a spiritual principle many Christians ignore: Disobedience to God is obedience to the devil.
“Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey—either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?” — Romans 6:16 (ESV)
As we approach the end times, Jesus calls us to total obedience until the end—and to model this obedience to others.
“Because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” — Matthew 24:12–13 (ESV)
Prayer
“Lord Jesus, thank You for reminding me that true love for You is demonstrated through obedience.
Forgive me for the times I have heard Your Word but failed to follow it. Strengthen me by Your Spirit to walk in complete surrender, building my life on the solid rock of Your truth. Help me endure in obedience to the very end, so that my life may bring glory to You.
In Your holy name I pray, Amen.”
Reflection Questions
- How can you commit to studying the Bible daily and obeying what it says? What accountability can you build with Bible-obeying friends or family?
- Which areas of your life have you struggled to obey God fully?
- Will you repent today and ask God to help you walk in complete obedience?
