When God Seems Late

DAY 1 OF 6

When God Is Silent – Day 1

There are moments when heaven feels closed. You pray, cry, call out… and nothing happens. The silence feels heavy, your mind fills with questions, and your heart grows cold. But God’s silence does not mean He has left; often, it is in that silence that He is working the deepest.

“Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days.”
(John 11:5–6, NIV)

Jesus loved them, but He didn’t move immediately. And that’s confusing: how can someone who loves delay? Yet the delay was not indifference—it was purpose. Jesus wasn’t going to heal a sick man; He was going to raise a dead one. His silence wasn’t distance—it was strategy.

Job also knew silence. In the midst of his pain, he cried out without receiving an immediate answer. But at the end, he could say: “My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.” (Job 42:5, NIV). Silence was the classroom where Job moved from knowing about God to truly experiencing Him.

In practical life, it’s like when a teacher stays silent during an exam: they haven’t left the room—they’re watching to see what you’ve learned. That’s how God is—He’s not absent, He’s forming you.

If today you feel like God is silent, don’t assume He forgot you. Perhaps He’s preparing a response far greater than your prayer.

Talk with God and open your heart:

Lord, when Your silence hurts, remind me that You are near. Even when I don’t hear Your voice, I want to trust in Your love. Strengthen my faith and teach me to rest in Your plan. Amen.

Think about this:
What kind of silence are you living through right now?
Could you trust that God is working in the invisible while you wait for His answer?

Coming up on Day 2: When God Doesn’t Rush
Tomorrow we’ll see how waiting doesn’t set you back—it prepares you for something greater.

About this Plan

When God Seems Late

Sometimes we pray, trust, and wait… but God seems to remain silent. However, His silence is not absence. This plan, based on the story of Lazarus and other passages in Scripture, will show you that God is never late—His delays are part of His purpose. Learn to recognize His voice in the silence, His hand in the waiting, and His power in the process.
