Kingdom Marriages: A 5-Day Plan to Build a Christ-Centered Relationship

DAY 3 OF 5

Day 3: Navigating Conflict in Kingdom Marriages

Conflict is a natural part of any relationship—even in our closest bonds. However, how we navigate these conflicts can either fortify our connections or drive us apart. The Scriptures provide us with profound wisdom on this matter, particularly in Ephesians 4:26-27 (NKJV): "Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil."

This passage teaches us the significance of acknowledging our emotions while maintaining control over how we express them. Anger, when handled righteously, can motivate us to address issues constructively. But we must be cautious: our words have immense power. They are like seeds—what are we planting in our relationships? Are we nurturing growth and understanding, or are we sowing discord and resentment?

Remember, it’s essential to know both your triggers and those of your partner. This awareness allows us to navigate disagreements with grace and respect. We should strive to avoid “hitting below the belt” and instead focus on effective communication that fosters resolution.

As we work through our conflicts, let our disagreements lead us toward reconciliation rather than division. Instead of allowing anger to linger, let’s choose to confront issues head-on, planting seeds of love, forgiveness, and understanding in our marriages and future relationships.

Embracing conflict can be daunting, but remember, it’s not about fighting to win; it’s about fighting for peace. Each disagreement is an opportunity to honor God and each other, fostering a stronger, more resilient marriage.

Reflection Question:
Am I fighting to win, or am I fighting for the peace and unity of my marriage?

Scripture Readings:

  • Ephesians 4:26-27
  • Proverbs 18:21
  • James 1:19-20
