RHODA as a Guiding Star

DAY 3 OF 7

Observant: Seeing God’s Work in the Everyday!

Key Texts:
Acts 12:14-15 (Rhoda recognizes Peter's voice at the door)
1 Corinthians 16:13: "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong."
Matthew 6:26 (Jesus encourages observation of God's care for creation)

Discussion:

• Rhoda’s attentiveness to recognize Peter's voice shows how important it is to stay alert to God's movement, even when others are not paying attention.

• Jesus also calls us to be observant of God's provision, as seen in His reminder to look at the birds of the air and the lilies of the field (Matthew 6:26).

Discussion Questions:

1. How do we train ourselves to be spiritually observant, like Rhoda was when she recognized God's answer to prayer?

2. How can you stay alert to God's work in the workplace and in everyday life?

3. How might you respond if you were in a situation like Rhoda's where others didn't see God's work, but you did?

Application: Spend a few moments reflecting on an area where you need to be more

spiritually observant. Ask God to help you recognize His work in your life and workplace.

Other Servant:

The Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8:26-40)

Role: Court official and servant of the Queen of Ethiopia.
Key Verse: ''Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?'' (Acts 8:36)

Significance:
The Ethiopian eunuch was a high-ranking official in the court of the Queen of Ethiopia, trusted with the charge of all her treasury. His humble position, however, didn't stop him from seeking God. When he encountered Philip, he eagerly accepted the message of Jesus and was baptized on the spot. His story is significant because it highlights how a servant or worker in any position can have a heart open to God, leading to a transformative experience.

Application in the Workplace: The eunuch's willing-ness to listen and learn reminds us to be receptive to God's Word no matter our position in life. No matter how high or low we may be in the social hierarchy, God desires to reveal Himself to those who seek Him.
