Love Came Down: A Christmas Devotional

DAY 2 OF 6

HOPE IS HERE

Zechariah and Elizabeth, both elderly and childless, were visited by the angel Gabriel. God promised them a son—John—who would prepare the way for Jesus. Zechariah doubted at first, but God’s promise still came to pass. Their story reminds us that hope may be delayed, but it is never denied.

Christmas reminds us that hope entered the world not in a mighty palace, but in a humble manger. The birth of Jesus is the dawn breaking over a weary world—a promise fulfilled, a hope restored. On that holy night, heaven touched earth, declaring that despair, pain, and darkness would not have the final say.

Jesus didn’t just bring hope; He embodied it. His coming means that no matter our circumstances—no matter the darkness around us or within us—there is always the promise of redemption, healing, and new beginnings. This hope is not temporary or dependent on our circumstances. It’s a hope anchored in the unchanging nature of a loving God who stepped into our world to show us the depth of His love and mercy.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for bringing hope into our broken world. Help me to carry Your hope with me, to share it generously with those around me, and to remember that Your presence is the greatest gift of all. Amen.

Action Step:
Light a candle today and reflect on how Jesus brings light and hope into your life. Ask God to show you someone who needs encouragement, and share a word of hope with them.
