Day 6: Signs of the End
Reflection:
Many Christians become fixated on the "end times." In Matthew 24, Jesus speaks prophetically of a time when the sun will be darkened and the stars will fall from the sky, likely pointing to the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. But there are many illustrations throughout Scripture, even cryptic ones, which seem to point to our own history and current age. Much more could be said here, but Jesus is careful to tell us, “of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father” (Matt. 24:36). While we might like to speculate on such things, Jesus’ central purpose in speaking of cosmic signs is not to give us exact answers, but to prepare us. These warnings are not meant to frighten us but awaken us. Advent makes us alert to the signs of His return and God’s cosmic interventions.
Meditation:
What evidence do you see that the world is groaning for redemption?

About this Plan

Advent is more than a countdown to Christmas. It is a season of holy waiting, of longing in the dark for the Light that is coming. We not only look back to the manger, but forward to Christ’s return in glory. Advent trains our hearts to be awake and expectant, anchoring us in the hope of God’s promises. This 25-day plan invites you to slow down, reflect, and rediscover the meaning of Advent. Together we will journey through Scripture, prayer, and meditation, remembering that the coming of Jesus is not sentimental tradition, but a world-shaking reality.
