Pause, Pray, Prove

DAY 3 OF 3

PROVE: Our spiritual roots grow through examination of scripture.

Stillness opens the door to knowledge, and prayer connects us to wisdom, but examination helps the Word grow and take root in us. After we hear the Truth, we must sit with it for transformation. Social media gives quick inspiration, but God gives us profound revelation and growth.

Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance. Proverbs 1:5 (NIV)

Listening to our favorite speaker's sermons or watching videos is not enough on its own. Scripture calls us to add to our learning. We must engage our hearts and minds thoughtfully. That engagement requires intentional examination of scripture.

Think of the Bereans.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 (NIV)

They tested the teaching they heard against God’s Word. Examining Scripture protected them from deception and opened their eyes to revelation.

Ask: “Have I examined this, or have I just absorbed it?”

Examination is a spiritual discipline that builds discernment and separates what merely sounds good from what aligns with God’s word.

Prayer: Lord, don’t let Truth pass through me without transforming me. Teach me to examine Your Word deeply so wisdom becomes rooted in my heart. Amen.

Action Step: Before accepting any social-media quote or perspective as truth today, pause and ask, “Where is this in Scripture?” Look up at least one passage that affirms or challenges the claim.
