30 Days of Praying for Children and FamiliesNäide

When Jesus told his disciples to feed the huge crowd, they could only see the impossible, overwhelming task.
“Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” (John 6:9, NIV)
Yet Jesus multiplied the small amount they had, and everyone ate their fill with much left over. Of all the Gospels, only John records that the source of the food was a child.
Commentator Colin Kruse says about this moment: ‘It is hard to imagine that Andrew thought this would be of any help in the situation, and so it is likely he only brought the boy to Jesus because the boy himself had taken the initiative and wanted to offer what he had.’
Surely the little boy had no idea how his small gift of food would help the overall problem, but all he knew was that he wanted to give what he had to Jesus. And look what Jesus did!
What might Jesus be calling you to give?
How could you encourage your own children to recognise the gifts they are being called to share?
Prayer
Pray that God would take the little you have to offer and multiply it. Pray that he would show you the need in your community.
Pray for the families who are going hungry in your neighbourhood – that God would provide food to nourish them, and you might have the opportunity to share his living water with them.
