Centered on Christ - Dwelling in His Divine Purpose

DAY 5 OF 5

Trust God in Uncertain Times

Sometimes in the middle of life’s storms, even with a strong community around us, we still feel shaky and alone. Ultimately, it is our relationship with the Lord where we will find the strength, courage, and peace to stand firm and then to move one foot in front of the other toward the path He has before us. Trusting Him in trials, even though those times may be difficult, makes us mature, wise, and complete.

Esther faced uncertainty at every turn; approaching King Xerxes was a life-or-death decision. She trusted God with her future no matter the outcome, and through that trust, she found peace. By the end of the book of Esther, she had grown from a young lady shaky in her calling to a wise queen influencing the future of her people. In times of uncertainty — be it around relationships, jobs, or health — we can draw strength from centering ourselves in Christ, trusting His plan is greater than our worries.

Even when we have a strong community around us, the most important One to look to in dire times is Jesus. He knows the plan He has for us and how He is writing the future for the good. Living a life centered on Christ is powerful. Life-giving power. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.

I remember when I was a little girl, hearing my sweet momma singing a smooth, calming melody:

Seek ye first the kingdom of God,
And His righteousness.
And all these things shall be
added unto you.
Hallelu, hallelujah.

These lyrics, based on the scripture in Matthew, help us remember to seek HIM first – seek His Kingdom (those things that show people the Gospel and eternity) and His righteousness (those things that please, honor, and reflect Him). He is always there to take care of the details.

Reflection

  • In what areas of your life do you feel are on shifting sand? Write these down on a piece of paper, and in bold letters, write SOLID ROCK over top.
  • When was the last time you memorized scripture? Pray for direction, and by the end of the day, choose a verse to apply to your mind and hide in your heart.
  • How does it make you feel knowing that our trials happen for a reason? Be honest with God about those feelings. Lean into Him and thank Him for working all things together for the good.

About this Plan

Centered on Christ - Dwelling in His Divine Purpose

Life can leave us feeling overwhelmed, but the Bible teaches that God is before us—nothing surprises Him. Dwelling in His purpose gives us strength, courage, and stability amid life’s storms. How do we do that, though, when choices land us in vortex situations? In this 5-day plan for women, rooted in Esther’s story, we’ll explore how to rely on the Solid Rock, so when whirlwinds come, we are ready.
