30 Days to Confident FaithNäide

Devotional:
These words were first spoken to Israel as Moses prepared to hand leadership over to Joshua. The Israelites were standing on the edge of the Promised Land—a place they had longed for but also feared to enter. Joshua was stepping into leadership that felt far bigger than him, but God reassured His people:“I’m going ahead of you. I will never leave you.”

I remember a time when I felt exactly like Joshua—standing at the edge of something completely new, terrified of messing it up. When God called me into youth ministry, I felt the weight of responsibility pressing down on me. Every time someone introduced me as “Minister” or “Pastor,” I cringed inside. I didn’t want to get this wrong. I was terrified of saying the wrong thing, misquoting Scripture, or interpreting God’s Word in a way that wasn’t Spirit-led.

Night after night, I would cry out to God, asking Him,“Are You sure about this? Did You really call me?”And one day during prayer, He reminded me of this exact verse:“I’m not just sending you—I’m going with you. I’ve already gone ahead of you.”

That truth lifted a heavy burden from my heart. The pressure to “get it all right” shifted into a posture of trust. I realized that the same God who called me was also preparing me. He was already working in the hearts of those I would minister to, already equipping me with wisdom and grace for every conversation.

When we know God has gone ahead of us, fear loses its power. The unknown becomes less intimidating because the One who knows all things is already there, preparing the way. Just as Joshua stepped into a daunting role with confidence because of God’s presence, you can boldly step into your next season—whether it’s a new job, ministry, or life transition—because He promises you will never walk alone.

What step of faith is God calling me to take today, and how would my confidence change if I believed He’s already gone ahead of me?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for going before me and preparing the way. Help me release fear and step boldly into the places You’ve called me, knowing You are with me every step of the way. Amen.
