Three Years in 30 Days: Jesus' Life and MissionNäide

The kingdom of God cannot remain hidden
“And again He said, ‘To what shall I compare the kingdom of God? It is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, until it was all leavened.’” (Luke 13:20-21 ESV)
In the previous devotional, we saw how a woman prepared leaven. That small amount of leaven started a slow fermentation process that caused the large amount of dough to rise. We now want to consider why Jesus compares this to the kingdom of God.
Just as the leaven is invisible in the large amount of dough, the kingdom of God is hidden from many people. With the coming of Jesus, the secrets of the kingdom of God are revealed. This kingdom is not established by power or violence. But in hiddenness, it begins to multiply until it is finally visible to everyone.
Before Jesus was taken up into heaven, He promised the disciples that they would receive the power of the Holy Spirit. And they were commissioned to witness about Him everywhere. On the first day of Pentecost, this promise was fulfilled. Three thousand people were added to the church that day, and that was only the beginning! Many millions of people have come to faith since then.
- Are you aware of the power of the gospel?
- And do you share it?
