Who Am I, Really? Discovering the You God Had in MindNäide

From everywhere and nowhere. A misfit. That’s me. By the time I was ten, I’d lived in six countries on three continents. I didn’t know where I belonged.

In my passport country, where on the outside everyone looked like me, I was a stranger. Kids laughed at my funny accent; grownups scolded me.

Overseas, I felt isolated by the colour of my skin, the texture of my hair, and my funny-sounding name, which nobody could ever pronounce.

Have you ever been there? Feeling like you’re too much and not enough at the same time? No matter where you go, you just don’t fit?

For years, I tiptoed through life, believing I was the problem. Too foreign, too different, too… me. Then I encountered Psalm 139, and the Lord shattered the lie. I wasn’t a misfit; I’m an original. And so are you.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb… all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:13–16 (NIV)

The psalmist, David, marvels at the intricate, intentional way God formed him, even before he was born. Nothing about him – or us – is an accident.

You are not a mistake. You are not random.

God personally handcrafted every detail of your being. He saw you before you took your first breath. He wrote every single day of your life with care. That includes your personality, your background, your journey – all on purpose.

Your value isn’t determined by people’s opinions, cultural norms, or past experiences. It’s determined by the One who created you and called you good. God wrote every one of your days before you got here. God is the Author of your story.

Walk boldly in the truth that God, your Author, has written a story full of purpose, and you are right on time in it.

Lord, thank You that I am not a mistake. You knew me before anyone else did. Help me let go of the lies I’ve believed and receive the truth that I am known, loved, and chosen by You. I trust the story You are writing with my life. Amen.
