DAY 5 OF 60

Romans 1
Truth Revealed, Truth Rejected

Paul continues by presenting the stark reality of humanity’s relationship with truth. He writes of God’s wrath, directed not simply at immorality, but specifically toward those who deliberately suppress the truth. According to Paul, humanity isn't ignorant of God's existence. Instead, through creation itself, God has made His power and divine nature evident. There's enough revealed through the natural world to know something of who God is.

Yet humanity often chooses rejection. Rather than recognizing God’s sovereignty, people turn away. Paul describes a conscious choice to exchange the truth about God for lies—worshipping created things rather than the Creator Himself. As a result, their thinking became futile, their hearts darkened.

Paul’s message emphasizes that rejecting God’s clear revelation doesn't just lead to ignorance—it leads to spiritual darkness and confusion. This isn't passive ignorance; it’s active suppression, a deliberate refusal to acknowledge God. It’s a sobering reality Paul describes, showing the human heart’s tendency to seek meaning apart from God, even when confronted with undeniable evidence of His existence.

The question Paul’s message raises is direct: what are we doing with the truth revealed to us? Are we embracing it or suppressing it?
