Faith That Feels Real: Part 1 - Lies We Believe About FaithNäide

When You Think God is Disappointed in You
If you’ve ever felt like God is tired of you or done with you, you’re not alone. Many of us carry wounds from past experiences—parents, leaders, or systems that tied love to performance. Over time, we can project that same conditional love onto God.
But Scripture tells a different story. “There is therefore now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). In Luke 15, the father runs to the prodigal before the apology—because it was never about the son’s performance, but his identity.
God’s face toward you isn’t stern—it’s full of compassion and delight. You were never a disappointment.
Reflect & Apply:
- When you picture God’s face toward you, do you see disappointment or delight? Why?
- How have past experiences shaped the way you think God responds to your failures?
- What would it look like to pause in moments of shame and remind yourself of God’s true posture toward you?
