Be Still: 30 Days to Revive Your Prayer LifeNäide

Hallowed Be Your Name…
As we continue, I truly hope you are being blessed as together we look closer at the words spoken by Jesus in Matthew 6. May I pray for you as we begin?
Father, thank You for being our good Father. Thank You that You call us Your children, and that we can run to You. Thank You for being the perfect example of someone who loves us unconditionally, despite our sin, circumstances, and failings. Today I pray that we would feel the ultimate and unconditional joy, love, and peace that comes from You. In Your name, Amen.
As a pastor, I am asked to officiate many weddings. One afternoon, I had been invited to officiate a wedding at a beautiful golf course. The setting was perfect—the beach, the warm sun, the amazing couple. This particular wedding was special, as the bride and groom were blending a family together. At one point in the ceremony, the bride’s two daughters made a speech welcoming their mom’s new husband as an important part of their lives. My heart was filled with wonder at this generous act of love, and I had to praise God for giving me a front row seat! What an amazing moment to thank Jesus and bring forward praise for a family who loves one another!
“Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name…” (Matthew 6:9, NIV)
This phrase literally translates to “Our Father in the heavens.” In the ancient world, they divided up the heavens into the terrasphere, the atmosphere, and everything else beyond that into the far reaches of space. With these words, Jesus tells us that God is not far off, He is not distant, He is not removed. He is in the heavens that swirl around, and He is always near. He is closer than a breath, and my prayer is that I become more aware of a presence that is already promised.
God is not far off, distant, or absent. He hears you, sees you, loves you, and wants to meet with you daily. This is great cause for celebration. Through Jesus, we are united with God!
It may seem like God is silent or absent, yet Jesus reminds us that He is always there. He always answers our prayers and already knows what we need.
“…for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”(Matthew 6:8, NIV)
If today you feel God has been silent, ask Him to speak to you, and then listen. Often, we ask to hear, but fail to listen. Listen not just with your head, but also with your heart, and prepare to be content with the answer you receive.
You are a miracle!
