Being a Witness for Jesus: This Is How You Do ItNäide

What is a witness?
Acts 1:8
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses...”
A witness is someone who has seen or heard something and then tells others about it. Not rumors, but real experiences from personal encounter.
The Bible teaches us that when we receive the Holy Spirit, we receive power to be witnesses—not just to tell something, but to live it.
Imagine you see an accident happen. The police ask you for a statement. You say, “I saw someone run a red light.” That’s a testimony: based on what you personally saw.
Jesus also said that He testified of what He had seen with the Father.
John 3:32
“He bears witness to what He has seen and heard...”
You have seen something, too. Maybe not with your natural eyes, but with the eyes of your heart. You’ve encountered Him. You’ve experienced His love, His grace, His goodness.
And so… you are a witness.
But be careful: the Bible also warns against false witnesses.
Mark 14:56
“For many gave false testimony against Him...”
As children of God, we are called to speak the truth.
So don’t be a “religious parrot” who repeats something without having experienced it. You don’t need to embellish your story to make it sound better. Be honest about what Jesus has done in your life—that is more than enough.
What matters is that you speak from your own experience with Jesus. Even if your story feels “small,” it is big in God’s eyes. Why?
Because you know Him. You can say, “God is my Father.” That's amazing!
Reflection:
- What is your own experience with Jesus?
- What have you seen and heard in your walk with Him? Write it down.
