30-Day Marriage Class by Vance K. JacksonNäide

Who’s Your Counsel?
Don’t take counsel or align with those who attack and gossip about others. Choose to humble yourself and keep your hands clean and your heart pure. Invest in your marriage. Invest in your spouse. Speak life instead of division, defeat, and destruction. Choose to sow peace.
After the king of Syria took counsel and formed alliances with others against Elisha, notice what the king did next. In 2 Kings 6:8 KJV, he stated, “. . . In such and such a place shall be my camp.” The king of Syria likes to set up snares. According to Strong’s Concordance, the Hebrew word for “Snare” is “mowqesh” (H4170), which means “bait or lure.” In other words, the king of Syria likes to set up “hidden attacks.” This spirit does not only like to take counsel from ungodly sources—it also likes to form silent alliances in order to validate and amplify its message.
The king of Syria likes to silently “set up” camp within the walls of your marriage. Don’t let anything sneak into your camp. Song of Solomon 2:15 KJV declares, “Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.” It’s the “little foxes”, or the small things that sneak into your house that ultimately destroy the vine. Choose to get rid of the small “silent assassins” that try to destroy your marriage. Lust kills marriages. Pride destroys families. Rebellion dethrones authority. Don’t let the “little” foxes destroy your family’s harvest.
