Faith @ Work

DAY 22 OF 30

The real beauty of the incarnation is that Christ left his home in heaven, became a man, and came to earth—all for humanity’s benefit. He came for every hard or happy workday we will ever face. He promised to be near us every moment, even when our work is enjoyable and fulfilling, and we look forward every morning to going to work. God is with us when our work is dry and boring, and it is an effort just to get out of bed. God is with us when we are promoted and receive increased responsibilities, or when we are demoted or laid off.

God is present in the middle of both the satisfaction and stress of work. God’s hand is always upon us—at work, at home, or wherever we are! God is fully aware of every one of our anxieties. He searches us and knows our hearts. We don’t need to be afraid!

God is aware of your thoughts about your coworkers, managers, and job. He knows what you are going to say even before you say it. He is with you in your meetings, when you’re dealing with customers, at the water cooler, and in the lunch room. Even in your darkest place, God’s light shines brightly!

When you reflect on God’s awareness of everything you say, think, and do at work, know that he accepts you just as you are. He is gracious and freely offers forgiveness without condemning you. You are not alone!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I am humbled and amazed that you know me completely. Forgive me for those things I have thought, said, or done that I shouldn’t have. I praise you that I am not alone at work today, but that you are there with me in every activity, meeting, and interaction with others at work. Thank you that your light shines brightly in my workplace. Amen.
