Leadership Lessons From John the BaptistNäide

Studying the figure of John the Baptist, we can learn important lessons for understanding our own call and its efficient execution. No doubt, John the Baptist’s short life was extremely efficient, as Jesus Himself had given him the highest assessment: “Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” (Matthew 11:11 KJV)
Apart from the greatness of the personality and the call of John, we also see him being amazingly successful in his ministry: “And there went out unto him all the land of Judæa, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.” (Mark 1:5 KJV)
So, what contributed to his greatness and efficiency? Studying Bible texts, it’s possible to single out five components of John the Baptist’s efficient life, which are extremely relevant for us today.
Each of us has a primary call to follow Jesus and a secondary call that manifests itself in our activity in expanding God’s Kingdom. So, what can help us to be more efficient at performing our call?
For the next five days, we’ll be able to get inspired by one of the greatest prophets and follow this great example of efficient ministry.
