02 - LORD'S PRAYER - Jesus Taught Us How to PrayNäide

09 – Pray with Discernment
Even the words of the Lord’s Prayer call us to discernment:
- We say, “Our Father,” but do we truly understand the privilege of calling God Abba?
- We pray, “who art in heaven,” but do we grasp the reality of the heavens?
- We say, “hallowed be Your name,” but do we live in ways that honor His holiness?
- We pray, “Your kingdom come,” but do we really understand what God’s Kingdom is?
- We say, “Your will be done on earth,” but are we willing to do His will in our own lives?
- We ask for “daily bread,” which we understand well enough—but do we truly trust God for it every day?
- We pray for forgiveness, but do we forgive those who wrong us?
- We ask to be delivered from temptation and evil, yet do we take His warnings seriously?
- We declare, “the kingdom, the power, and the glory are Yours,” but do we truly believe it?
Discernment means praying with understanding. Hebrews reminds us that spiritual maturity requires moving from milk to solid food—growing in discernment so that we can distinguish good from evil (Hebrews 5:12–14).
Jesus Himself prayed for us with great intensity (According John 17). Therefore, we too must learn to pray with understanding and conviction.
About this Plan

My dear friends, in the Sermon on the Mount—the longest recorded discourse of Jesus Christ in the Gospels—we find the prayer known as the “Our Father” or the “Lord’s Prayer.” Before teaching His disciples this prayer, Jesus first taught them how to pray. That is the focus of this series of reflections: what the right posture is when we approach God in prayer. Not the physical posture—whether kneeling, standing, sitting, or lying down—but the posture of the heart!
