DAY 39 OF 42

Bold Looks Different

When you think of boldness, what comes to mind? Maybe you picture someone giving a powerful speech, standing up for a cause, or taking a dramatic leap of faith. While boldness can look like that, it’s not always flashy or loud. Sometimes, bold living happens quietly and behind the scenes.

Boldness isn’t one-size-fits-all. Esther demonstrated boldness by speaking up to save her people, risking her life to approach King Xerxes without being summoned. Abigail, on the other hand, showed boldness through a quiet but wise act of intervention and prevented David from making a rash decision that could have brought bloodshed.

Esther’s boldness was public and dramatic, while Abigail’s was thoughtful and behind the scenes. Both were incredibly significant. Boldness can mean speaking up, but it can also mean stepping out in small, faithful ways. Whether big or small, boldness is about being obedient to God in the moment.

Do you tend to associate boldness with dramatic actions? How can you practice boldness in both public and quiet ways?

Ask God to help you embrace boldness in all its forms. Look for moments today to act faithfully, whether it’s in speaking up or stepping out with quiet courage.
