Journey Through Esther, Ezra & NehemiahNäide

Intro
Nicole introduces this course about the lives of three remarkable people who served God as exiles in the Persian Empire. This is the beginning of the period of Restoration for God’s people. Esther served in the Persian court and was providentially positioned to reverse a plot to exterminate the Jews. Out of this comes the annual festival of Purim. Ezra helps restore covenant living and worship when it was on the verge of being lost. Nehemiah leverages his position as royal cup-bearer to lead a wall-rebuilding effort in Jerusalem in record time. All of this was under the threat of assassination and revolt.

Nicole introduces this lesson, which is an overview of the post-exilic world of Esther, Ezra and Nehemiah.
Diaspora Stories: In the Text
The Diaspora stories at the end of the Old Testament are not as familiar to many Bible readers as stories about Moses or David. Yet those two figures share much in common with Esther, Ezra and Nehemiah—and all of them (and many more) have stories that are tied together by common central themes in the Bible.
Plot #1: Guilt & Reconciliation
Plot #2: Dishonor & Vindication
Plots Converge in Jesus
