Nearness

DAY 62 OF 62

In life, there are so many big questions that we will never have answers to.

Far too often, we don’t see justice in our world, or in our lives. Although we study God’s word, sometimes we’re not sure how it is meant to be applied in modern day situations as technology, society, and culture jostle to influence our thinking.

There is a wealth of wisdom, discipline, and insight offered through the book of Proverbs. They are not meant to be life hacks or moral tips— they are designed for us to cultivate our trust and love for God. Solomon did not give advice so we could boost productivity or avoid trouble. His writing leads us to rely on God in times of uncertainty and clarity.

This echoes Psalm 20:7 (ESV): “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” The Bible repeatedly reminds us that trust isn’t passive—it’s formed through God’s self-revelation. Jeremiah 17:7 (ESV) declares: “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.”

Proverbs 22:19 adds a beautiful personal touch: “even to you.” God’s wisdom isn’t generic—it’s intimate. His truth is for your situation, your questions, your life.

Today, ponder this: In the midst of questions and uncertainty, how can we trust God? Commit to praying to Him for the next season each day, casting your worries, cares, and anxieties on Him. Consider how you can be a witness for Him in the midst of challenges.

About this Plan

In a season shaped by bold questions and honest wrestling, Nearness offers a daily pause to remember that God is not distant—even when answers feel elusive. This companion to the Ask Anything sermon series walks through key selections from Psalms and Proverbs, revealing a God who sees, hears, and loves us without needing to erase the hard places. Each devotion gently speaks into the tension, offering wisdom and comfort. God is unfailingly good. His presence is unwavering. We don’t need every answer—we need the One who stays.
