All Things for My Good?

DAY 3 OF 5

“Those whom God predestined, he also called.”

God didn't just make a plan and sit back, waiting for it to randomly happen eventually. He also did not create a bunch of robots to do exactly what he programmed them to do. He gave us free will, but He also acts on that free will by lovingly calling us to redemption.

In the same way, the King in our parable planned a party and sent out invitations. Some refused or gave excuses, just like some refuse the call of God to repentance today.

How about you? God sent out the invitation. Have you answered the call? Or are you too busy with your plans and aspirations? Perhaps, like some in the parable, you are hostile towards God and have mistreated those that He sent to invite you. It is not too late to repent, to seek peace with the King of Kings and the Prince of Peace.

From the parable, we can see that the call went out to all, but only those who received the call of their Lord and placed their trust in Him were considered worthy. Their worth, however, wasn't found in who they were, what they had, or their social status.

Their worth was found in Who called them.

God is calling you to His great banquet table. If you have not accepted the invitation, then today is the day of your salvation. You can choose to come freely and empty-handed to the throne of grace. There is no other way to be reconciled to the God of the Universe except to repent and place your total trust in Jesus.

If you hear His invitation, then you are called. What will your choice be?

About this Plan

All Things for My Good?

“All things work together for my good.” Sound familiar? That’s a promise I built my life on. But, until recently, my understanding of that truth was woefully incomplete and self-centered. How often do we turn God’s glorious promises into a self-serving motto? This plan looks at Romans 8:28-30 through the lens of a parable Jesus told to hopefully give us a better understanding of our identity in God’s Kingdom.
