GENESIS 9
GOD’S COVENANT WITH NOAH
God makes a covenant with Noah, promising never to wipe out the world with a flood again and establishes the rainbow as a symbol of this promise. God reminds Noah that he is made in the image of God and that he should be fruitful and multiply.
Not long after the flood, Noah planted a vineyard in the soil. Noah becomes drunk and gets naked. Ham sees his father’s nakedness, and his son Canaan is cursed. Like Adam, Noah is naked and ashamed in a garden.
STUDY QUESTIONS
What did Noah do after the flood? Does this show humanity’s desire for God or tendency to sin?
What does it mean to make a covenant with someone? What was God’s covenant with Noah? How has God kept this covenant?
