From Choke Point to Calling: Finding Freedom With JesusNäide

After being restored, Peter’s first question was about someone else: “What about him?” I can relate—I often compare myself to others in ministry, leadership, or life. But Jesus’ response is clear and firm: “What is that to you? You must follow me.” Comparison either discourages me because I feel inadequate, or it fills me with pride because I feel superior. Either way, it distracts me from Jesus. He calls me to a unique path, and I can only walk it well if I keep my eyes on Him. His voice must be louder than the noise of others’ successes or failures. My job is not to compete—it’s to follow.
- In what ways do I compare my journey with others around me?
- How can I keep my focus on following Jesus wholeheartedly in the lane He’s given me?

About this Plan

A 4-Day Journey Through John 21 This devotional plan invites me to walk with Peter through one of the most pivotal moments in his life—a moment where Jesus met him in his failure and frustration, not to condemn him, but to restore and recommission him. As we reflect on these four choke points, we can be reminded that Jesus longs to bring freedom in these same areas of our life too. This devotional plan is inspired by a powerful teaching originally shared by Dave Smith, Senior Leader of KingsGate Community Church, UK
