The Take Off: It's Bigger Than YouNäide

How Low Can You Go?
If you could be anything in the world, what would you choose? Most people would choose something high-ranking—like a millionaire, a famous athlete, a CEO, or an influencer with millions of followers. But when Jesus, the Son of God, had the opportunity to come to earth as anything, He chose the lowest position—a servant.
In scripture, we see that Jesus had the highest position in existence—King of Kings, Lord of Lords, seated in heaven. Yet He humbled Himself and came down, not to be treated like royalty, but to serve broken, sinful people (Philippians 2:6-7).
Jesus didn’t just serve occasionally—His entire life was about serving. He washed His disciples’ feet (John 13:14-15), healed the sick, fed the hungry, and spent time with people that society rejected. He didn’t come to be treated like a king, even though He deserved it. Instead, He showed us that true greatness comes through humility and serving others.
The world teaches us to focus on status, success, and being served. But Jesus flipped the script. He said, “The greatest among you will be your servant” (Matthew 23:11). That means serving isn’t just a good thing to do—it makes us more like Jesus.
If Jesus, the highest of all, was willing to take the lowest position, then why do we sometimes think we’re too good to serve?
Practical Ways to Serve Like Jesus:
- At school, assist a struggling classmate, uplift someone who feels excluded, or show respect for your teachers.
- At home, complete chores without being asked, support your siblings, or demonstrate kindness to your parents.
- In your community, volunteer, help someone in need, or be there for those who are hurting.
- At church, join a service team, pray for others, and support your youth group.
Reflection Question:
Are you more focused on being served or serving others? How can you follow Jesus’ example this week?
Prayer:
God, thank You for sending Jesus to show me what true love and humility look like. Help me to serve like He did—not for recognition, but out of love. Give me a heart that puts others first and remind me that true greatness comes through serving. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
