In the futuristic movie The Final Cut, people have implants in their eyes that record everything they see. Alan Hakman, played by Robin Williams, has a job he describes as a sin-eater—editing out the worst parts of people’s lives so they’re remembered only for the good.

Imagine if everything you had ever seen or done was on display for the world. It’s a daunting thought. But here’s the incredible news: Jesus has eaten our sin. When the Father looks at us, He doesn’t see the things we’ve scrolled through, the way we’ve looked at others, or even how we’ve viewed ourselves. He doesn’t hold our past against us. Instead, He sees His Son, with whom He is well pleased.

Because of this, we are called to set our eyes on what truly matters—on Jesus and eternity—not on the fleeting comforts of this world. Wealth, status, and pleasure won’t last, but the things of God will.

"Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace."
