There's more in you
The life of Gideon offers timeless lessons about faith, obedience, trust, and staying connected to God in every season. May these reflections inspire you to walk boldly in God’s calling.
Blessings, Heidi
When the angel of the Lord first appeared to Gideon, Gideon didn’t feel like a ‘mighty man of [fearless] courage.’ Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress, hiding from the Midianites. He saw himself as the least in his family and doubted he could ever be strong or courageous. But God saw beyond Gideon’s fears and insecurities – He saw his God-given potential. How often do we feel like Gideon? We look at ourselves through the lens of fear, weakness, or comparison, forgetting that God sees us differently. He calls out what He has already placed in us.
You might feel inadequate, but God calls you ‘mighty.’ You might feel overlooked, but God says, ‘I am with you.’ Gideon’s story reminds us that it’s not about who we think we are but about who God says we are. He equips the called, even when they feel unqualified. Take a moment today to ask God how He sees you. Write it down and hold onto His truth. Remember, if God could use a hesitant and fearful Gideon to deliver a nation, He can use you, too.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for seeing the potential in me, even when I don’t see it myself. Help me to trust Your voice over my doubts. Strengthen me to step into the identity You’ve called me to. Amen.
