A Year in Luke/ActsNäide

We saw in our study for Luke 13 how Jesus is warning people because he wants them to repent and accept his message. This was not only a gospel of personal, spiritual salvation, the message of the outsiders being brought in and loving our enemies, it also had political significance. Luke wants to narrow in on the fact that the welfare of the people was tied up with acceptance of the gospel of the kingdom of God.
Events are coming which are going to reveal that the “Son of Man” was right about what he is predicting. This does not mean that Jesus approves of the Romans’ brutality when they sack Jerusalem and destroyed the temple; instead, it shows that he was correct in his prediction that if Israel did not repent and accept his message of love for God and people, even enemies, destruction was coming.
