The Mended Rib: A 27-Day Devotional for Men Battling Lust and InfidelityNäide

Restoring Your Intimacy
Lust and infidelity can cause deep wounds in a marriage, severely damaging the intimacy that once existed. But God has the power to restore what has been broken. Intimacy in marriage isn’t just physical; it’s emotional, spiritual, and relational. If your relationship has been harmed by sin, true healing comes through open communication, genuine forgiveness, and a commitment to rebuilding the connection that was lost. Although the process takes time, God can renew your marriage, strengthening your bond even more than before.
When I was trapped in pornography, I sought self-gratification rather than turning to my wife for emotional and physical fulfillment. My intimacy was corrupted by addiction, leading me to disconnect from my wife on deeper levels. But once God broke that stronghold in my life, I made the conscious decision to invest fully in building true intimacy with her.
This journey wasn’t just about restoring physical closeness; it was about non-sexual physical touch, using words of affirmation, and taking time to care about what mattered to her. Even the smallest things became important as I learned to value her in ways I hadn’t before. Most importantly, we grew spiritually together, creating a deeper bond through shared faith and emotional connection. As I became more aligned emotionally, mentally, and spiritually with my wife, the intimacy we experienced became real and deeply fulfilling, far beyond what I had ever known.
God’s power to restore is incredible, and when we work together with Him, our marriages can become stronger, more intimate, and more connected than ever before.
Challenge
Today, initiate a conversation with your spouse about your emotional and spiritual connection. Commit to rebuilding intimacy by spending intentional time together in prayer or simply talking without distractions.
Prayer
God, I pray that You would restore the intimacy in my marriage. Help me and my spouse to connect emotionally, spiritually, and physically in a way that honors You. Amen.
