God's Attributes Reflected in UsNäide

God is holy
“Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. All nations will come and worship You, for Your righteous acts have been revealed.” (Revelation 15:4)
The apostle John describes in one of his visions how the Lord God is glorified in heaven. All nations will worship Him, for He alone is holy. God’s holiness sets Him apart from everybody else. As Hannah expresses it in a song: “There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides You” (1 Samuel 2:2).
This is the primary meaning of the word “holy”: separate, set apart from the profane and sinful world and from any other spiritual beings. God is unique. There are no other Gods besides Him. He is also unquestionably good, separate from evil.
The Lord’s holiness fills people and angels with reverence and awe. In visions described by the prophet Isaiah and the apostle John, angelic beings praise God exclaiming: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” (Isaiah 6:3) and “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” (Revelation 4:8). God is honored when His holiness is acknowledged.
What does the concept of holiness evoke in you? Do you know some worship songs that praise God’s holiness? What does that mean to you?
About this Plan

God created humans “in His image.” This means that in a sense we resemble our Creator. But to what extent is this still true? And to what extent has sin broken this image of God? This reading plan examines various attributes of God and how they are reflected in us.
