In the meantime, what do I do?
Good! Now we know that the engine for giving eternal meaning to what we do is your company. But what do we do?
Jesus, when he left the great commission and ascended to heaven, said what we should do, but he never said how. But he did say: “...but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses, and you will tell people about me everywhere...”. Acts 1:8, NTV.
What are we to do? Be his witnesses, which means martyrs. A relationship with Jesus is something you stake your life on.
“If you try to hold on to life, you will lose it, but if you lay down your life for my sake, you will save it.” Luke 9:24 NTV.
When I was a teenager, I asked this question to a very elderly pastor and he asked me three questions:
What capacity do you have?
What gifts do you have?
What do you like?
It is clear that Jesus sent us to preach and make disciples, but He did not say how we should do it, because we are all different. We are witnesses to Him through our identity, and that identity we find absolutely restored in His presence.
