Abide: Engaging the Book of JamesNäide

PICTURE IT
James 2:1–13
PREPARE. Quiet yourself and ask God to prepare your heart and guide your imagination.
PICTURE. James addressed the sin of showing prejudice in this section of his letter. Imagine the contrast between a person coming to church with obvious evidence of wealth and a person who is dressed in dirty rags. James described the obvious ways the wealthy man was given preference. Picture how prejudice might look. Now imagine that you are in the congregation where this letter is being read. How do you feel? How do you respond to these two newcomers?
PRAY. Ask God to forgive you for the times you have shown prejudice, and thank Him for the fact that He shows complete impartiality in His dealings with us.
