You know, in my old life, prior to surrendering my life to Papa, I took 8 to 12 sleeping pills, preferably with alcohol, every night in order to sleep about 4 hours. And when I woke up, I started the day with at least 4 sleeping pills to calm me down.

I did this for many years. It's a miracle I even woke up every time...

After giving my life and all of me to God, He freed me from depression and a strong longing for death. My addictions took a bit longer. Together with the Spirit I kicked those one by one. I believe because I did this with the Spirit it went relatively easy.

I distinctly remember that my addiction to sleeping pills was the last one. The Spirit would guide me every step of the way. I wanted to quit cold turkey, but it was the Spirit who advised me to start off by cutting off little parts of the pills until there were no more parts left.

It's still hard to believe that I sleep now without taking any sleeping pills.

A healthy, sound sleep is a Godly thing. God wants you to sleep well. It says so in Psalms 4:8 and 3:3,5 and Proverbs 3:24.

So I've put these verses together in one song. The ultimate Psalm for people having trouble sleeping, this will put you out like a light.
