Devotions to Conquer Anxiety and DepressionNäide

Anxiety Check!
Twenty-first-century women are always checking things. A bank balance. Email. Voice mail. The grocery list. And, of course, that never-ending to-do list. We routinely get our oil, tires, and brake fluid checked. And we wouldn’t think of leaving home for the day without checking our appearance in the mirror. We even double-check our purses, making sure we have the essentials—lipstick, mascara, and our cell phone. Yes, checking is a part of living, isn’t it? We do it without even realizing it. Checking to make sure we’ve locked the door, turned off the stove, and unplugged the flat iron just comes naturally. So why do we forget some of the bigger checks in life? Take anxiety, for instance. When was the last time you did an anxiety check? Days? Weeks? Months? . . . Chances are you’re due for another. After all, we’re instructed to not be anxious about anything. Instead, we’re to present our requests to God with thanksgiving in our hearts. We’re to turn to Him in prayer so that He can take our burdens. Once they’ve lifted, it’s bye-bye anxiety!
Prayer: Father, I get anxious sometimes. And I don’t always remember to turn to You with my anxiety. In fact, I forget to check for anxiety at all. Today I hand my anxieties to You. Thank You for allowing me to present my requests to You.
