God’s Miracles From Small Actions: A 4-Part DevotionNäide

Day 4: Gathering with God’s people
Read: Acts 16:13–15
Reflect: Despite being away from home and in an unfamiliar city, Paul and his companions choose to do what they do every Sabbath: Find a place to gather with God’s people. In going to the river to pray, Paul meets Lydia and shares the good news of Jesus with her. Lydia’s heart is opened, and she and her household are baptized. Immediately her home becomes a meeting place for believers as she supports Paul’s missionary efforts.
In our terms today, we might say Paul chooses to go to church even when he is out of town. He chooses to maintain the same rhythm and priority in his life no matter where he travels or how well he sleeps the night before. As he does, God works through him to increase His kingdom.
Consider: When have you simply showed up among God’s people and God ministered to you in a big way? When was the last time you gathered with other believers? Who could you invite to join you when you go to worship?
