Discovery Pathway Classes - Baptism and Spirit-Filled LivingNäide

There are 5 primary activities that you can integrate into your life to “grasp” God’s Word. The Navigators created a helpful picture that shows each activity as represented by a finger of a hand. These activities allow us to take hold of God’s Word and allow God’s Word to take hold of us. The activities to grasp God’s word include hearing, reading, studying, memorizing, and meditating.
For the rest of the week, this study will focus on the same passage of scripture each day. You will have the chance to try different ways of grasping God’s Word. The passage will be repeated so that you can see how these activities allow you to grasp God’s Word at a deeper level.
The first action we want to focus on is hearing God’s Word. Hearing involves listening to the Bible being read out loud to you. This is done each week in the church service, but there are many other opportunities to hear God’s Word throughout your week. The YouVersion Bible app makes it easy to hear God’s Word. To use this audio feature when using the Bible or a Bible plan, click the small speaker icon at the top right of the screen, then click the play button.
Another great way to hear the Bible is the “Streetlights” audio Bible app. This audio Bible is done in a spoken word style that is very engaging and includes musical accompaniment tracks. The app is free and available in the app store.
Today, listen to the passage in Luke either on YouVersion or in Streetlights. Try listening to the entire chapter of Luke 19. As you are listening, try to visualize what you hear. Use your imagination to see the scenes. Think about what stands out to you. Reflect on the experience. Did you enjoy hearing God’s Word? Did it change anything about the way you experienced the story?
