Read this passage once more and see the birth of a true leader in Joshua (whose name means "salvation" or "deliverance" in Hebrew). Unlike a movie where a character has to prove themselves or show they are capable, Joshua is a true leader, not because he is strong, but because from the very beginning, he trusts that God is stronger than himself and can be trusted completely.
We love Joshua 1:9 because of its powerful message for us to be strong, but we forget that this strength has to come completely from God and not ourselves. Joshua shows us that the strongest people are the ones who present their weaknesses to God the most and trust in Him.
Think it Over: How could you be a Christlike leader at your school or team? What would it look like to lean on God's strength to do that?
