Purify Your Mind Series (Part 2) by Joe KirbyNäide

Stop Robbing Your Own Bank!
Statistics have proven that crime really doesn’t pay: the average amount stolen by bank robbers in the UK is £12,900 (Wilkinson, The Mirror). To put this in perspective, on the date I’m writing this, the average salary in the UK is more than double that: £26,000. Bank robbers nearly always get caught, and serve an average of twelve years in prison. Twelve years? For less than half the average wage? Doesn’t seem like a fair trade-off, does it? “Stolen water is sweet”—meaning it tastes good to eat what you shouldn’t—but remember the prison sentence that almost always follows!
Those who commit sexual sin are like bank robbers—they often end up in a prison of their own mind, thoughts, and self-loathing. And yet, sex inside of marriage is like putting money in the bank—it only grows over time. The connection runs deeper, the sex is more enjoyable, and God fills the couple with more of His love. So don’t be tempted to have a quick heist here, or steal a little lust from the Internet there. It may feel exciting to begin with, but once you’re in that jail cell, all you will feel is regret. Rather, we should cling to the Savior who sets the captives free!
