Purify Your Mind Series (Part 2) by Joe KirbyNäide

Walking in the Spirit
One day a mother bought a pristine white dress for her little girl. The girl instantly wanted to show it off to all of her friends. Her mother agreed, under one condition. “You must not get the dress dirty.” The little girl nodded her head and bounded outside with her friends. A few hours later, the little girl knocked on her mother’s door, looking like a mud pie. The mother washed the dress and the next day she sent the little girl out to play with the same instructions. The little girl returned, even muddier.
This pattern repeated itself over and over again, until—what do you suppose happened? That little girl became a woman; she grew up to be like her mother. Over time the mother’s spirit was imparted into the little girl, and she learned her mother’s ways.
This is exactly what happens to us when we are born from above. The Holy Spirit teaches us to walk, but many times we get dirty. Eventually, though, if we keep seeking to walk by the Spirit, we’ll walk around the mud instead of falling into it. The more we listen to the Holy Spirit’s voice and obey His convictions in our conscience, the more He imparts His holiness into our lives.
