Be Confident in GodNäide

Having confidence in God
“Do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.” (Hebrews 10:35)
I’ve heard many people say: “You’ve got to believe in yourself!” This advice is meant to cheer you up and keep you going when things get tough.
But when the Bible says we should not throw away our confidence, it is speaking about something entirely different. This verse is about having confidence in Jesus Christ, not in ourselves! This becomes clear earlier on in the same chapter: “Since we have the confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus… let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith” (Hebrews 10:19-22).
The confidence that we should maintain is based on the assurance that Jesus Christ has given His life to reconcile us with God. Because He is our King and Savior, we don’t need to fear anything. Our future is safe with Him. This is especially important when speaking of the persecution and trials in Hebrews 10. In these situations, it does not help... even a little bit, to “believe in yourself”. You need something bigger than yourself, something greater than your present circumstances. You need the assurance that someone is in control and everything will turn out well in the end. You need God.
Do you have confidence in Jesus Christ? What does that mean to you?
