Despite Moses’ many questions to the Lord about his abilities to be the one to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt, finally he agrees. His brother, Aaron, will join as his spokesperson.
There is a strange story at the end of the chapter for today where it seems as if God has become tired of Moses’ constant questioning. Although this story is probably highlighting two things:
1. That Moses had not yet circumcised his firstborn son.
2. That if Israel were going to be God’s people, they needed to pick up the markers of the covenant of Abraham and live by them again.
Aaron and Moses speak to the people, who respond very well to the Lord’s response to their cry for help.
