When someone hurts us, it’s the best choice for us to forgive. But the reality is, even though we forgive, we still have the memory of what happened. We still remember the wrong. We still feel the pain. Even if we forgive, move on, and even set a boundary with the person who hurt us, the sting of that hurt remains. That is, until we turn it over to God. Because of who God is, His forgiveness is different. When He forgives us, He removes our transgressions from us. They’re gone in His eyes, and He treats us as though there is no record of wrong in His mind. We are forgiven… period. That’s how big His love is for us! And that same love can also help heal our hearts when we’re wronged. As we forgive others, God can lead us toward healing. The more we turn our hurts over to Him, the more He will bind up the wounds caused by others. It won’t happen overnight, but over time, our pain will be replaced by freedom—the freedom that comes from forgiveness.
Is there a hurt you’re holding on to right now? Share it with the Lord daily, asking Him to help you forgive and also to find freedom from the hurt caused as you do.

About this Plan

Stories teach us life lessons that stick with us well after the last page is turned. That may be why Jesus often told stories to convey a big idea or truth. He knew stories would connect with our hearts. We’ll dive into a few of those stories (parables) together. As we study, we’ll discover the power of those stories and how they can apply to our lives, as well as the power of Jesus as a teacher and a storyteller.
