Guard Your HeartNäide

Our hearts must be renewed
“And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you.” (Ezekiel 36:26)
When God created humans, they were perfect. Their hearts were pure and sinless. But once they turned away from their Creator because of Satan’s plan, all this changed dramatically. Only a few generations later, we read how “the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5).
This is the basic condition of every single human. Our hearts are polluted by evil. This results in disobedience to God and in all kinds of sin toward others. Actually, this problem seems insolvable since it concerns our inner being, our core identity. We can’t really change that.
But God can. He offers the only possible solution: a new heart and a new spirit. If we accept this offer, we will be changed from within. We won’t become sinless yet — that process will take time and will only be completed in eternity. But our basic condition changes drastically. We become acceptable in God’s sight again.
Have you already received a new heart?
