The Christmas story is FULL of surprises & reminds us that God’s ways are often not what we expect. When we’re reading a good fiction book, we LOVE plot twists! But in life, sometimes, it can be hard to get on board with the surprising work of God. Tuning into the surprises in the Christmas story can help us get more comfortable when God’s plans “get in the way” of our expectations.
Today, consider the whole Christmas story (we’ll get you started in today’s reading which talks about the shepherd’s part, but you can go further in your memory!). As you read/remember it, notice the things that might have been unexpected … like angels coming out of the sky or a star that moves slow enough for you to travel with it, etc…
