Courageous Choices Part 1Näide

BE STRONG
Fear. It’s real. Sometimes it’s small. Often it’s paralyzing. Fear keeps you from riding a roller coaster or talking to a stranger or trying a new food. Fear also keeps you from moving forward with boldness into the place that God is leading. You’re not trying to be afraid. You don’t want to be afraid. But the fear is real. Joshua remembers the fear. The fear of the 10 spies spread like a virus to the Israelite people. They were so afraid of this unknown land that they were willing to go back to Egypt! Back to slavery! That’s a lot of fear. But now, Joshua knows that they must face the fear of the unknown and trust the Known- that God is with them, He is for them, and no fear can stand in His way.
Be strong and courageous…. Be strong and very courageous… be strong and courageous…
Sounds like a fight song! But what is often missed amid these words is the command of verses 7 and 8. Their confidence, their strength, and their courage come from their commitment and obedience to the Word of God. He has given them His good and perfect law- this is His way to live, the way that leads to life and abundance. If they will follow His ways, they can be sure of His provision and His success. If they do it any other way… well, that would just be foolish.
Ask Yourself:
-How has fear held you back in your life?
-What scares you about the decision you’re facing?
Pause to Pray: Lord, I confess that I am afraid! Strengthen me in your presence to obediently follow you…
Take a Next Step:
-Maybe you’re not sure what scripture has to say about your situation and the decision you’re facing. That’s okay! You’re not meant to make every choice on your own. Ask a trusted pastor, mentor, or friend to listen to you, pray with you, and help steer you to making a wise choice, obedient to the Lord.
