Lead as If... Leading With Eternal PerspectiveNäide

Lead as if….
You don’t have all the answers, and you’re not perfect.
Many leaders have bought the lie that people in positions of authority have no latitude for making mistakes or admitting ignorance. Nowhere in scripture do I find any indication of all leaders knowing everything all the time. Aside from Jesus, we see leaders in the Bible make catastrophic mistakes and errors in judgment. Even the best ones meet moments of humility where they don’t know what to do.
It is imperative that we develop self-awareness where we can admit our faults and acknowledge times when the moment exceeds our bandwidth for determining a solution. When we are intellectually over-extended, and our capacity is limited, we must yield to the team or another leader we trust. Sometimes it’s as simple as humbling ourselves in prayer and confessing Proverbs 3:5,6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.”
Good leaders know the right solution in many situations, but great leaders don’t know every solution in every situation. We all know the only perfect leader in history was Jesus. In modern culture, successful teams with significant impact understand the need for group-sourced wisdom and open dialogue in a team setting. Our calling as leaders requires our willingness to yield to the collective unit in some instances. Great leaders wisely discern when those moments arise. If we have identified, assessed, and developed the right talent, we can be confident in allowing our team to emerge as effective decision-makers. It's time to let ourselves off the hook and stop expecting perfection.
