Daily Bible Reading, July 2022: God’s Renewing Word of FaithNäide

July 14
Introduction
At Shechem, Joshua addresses the people of Israel for the last time. He summarizes the history of God’s saving acts and exhorts the people to choose to serve the LORD.
Scripture Reading
Joshua 24:1-15
Today’s Key Verse: Joshua 24:14a
“Now then,” Joshua continued, “honor the LORD and serve him sincerely and faithfully.”
Reflect
What does Joshua ask the people to do? What choice does he put before them? What are the consequences for the people if they choose not to serve God? Reread verse 15. What are some things today that prevent people from serving God?
Pray
Lord God, I promise to serve you sincerely and faithfully. You are my God, and I worship you alone. May my words and actions this day be a testament to this promise and may those wrestling with the choice to serve you surrender to you today. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Joshua 24:16-33: The people promise to be faithful to the LORD.
